We are always looking to our community for the teaching talent that enhances our program. If you are interested in teaching or offering a course, please call (207) 934-7922 with any questions you may have. Please download and mail in our Course Proposal Form.

Please mail your proposal(s) in as soon as possible to be considered for the next upcoming semester. We start work on our upcoming catalog and course offerings 2- 4 months ahead of time!

Do you have expertise in gardening, music, painting, crafts, hair and makeup, parenting, computers or an idea in any category that you may be interested in offering? We are curious! Let us know about your talent!

 Volunteer tutors are often needed for our Reading and ESOL (English Speakers of Other Languages) classes.

Help Change Lives - Become a Literacy Volunteers Tutor!

Literacy volunteers of Greater Saco -Biddeford trains tutors to provide educational programs and services that improve reading, writing, and related literacy skills to empower adults by enhancing their life skills in the areas of family, work, health, and community. Before working with an adult learner, we require that all tutors attend a 15-18 hour basic literacy or ESOL training. Sessions include the tools, techniques, and strategies needed to work with an adult learner with low literacy skills.

English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Tutor Training

Basic Literacy Tutor Training

In this 18-hour class, you will gain the knowledge, skills and tools to successfully help an adult learner learn to read and write better. After completing the class, you will be paired with an adult learner. These pairs meet for one to two hours a week. Topics covered in the class include: the adult learner, learning styles, the fundamentals of teaching reading & writing, goal setting and lesson planning.
